Excelergy Premium
Excelergy Premium is a paid subscription that adds a cloud account on top of the free calculators. The calculators always work anonymously in your browser; Premium lets your figures follow you across devices and across tools, inside one or more named profiles, with a cross-tool dashboard.
Premium is currently in private beta. There's a free trial - you get the full Premium experience without entering a payment method, and only subscribe if you decide to keep it.
Signing in to Premium
Click Account in the top-right of any tool. Enter your email - we send a 6-digit code to sign in with. There is no password to manage; the code is single-use and only valid for a few minutes.
One session cookie is set on the parent domain .excelergy.co.uk, so signing in once on the Retirement Planner means you're also signed in on Budget, Take-Home, the Dashboard, and everything else.
Profiles
A profile is a complete snapshot of your inputs across the whole Excelergy suite - salary, pension pot, ISA balance, home value, your Budget plan, your Take-Home figures, everything. One profile = one coherent view of your finances.
You start with one profile called Baseline. It's a template; you can either rename it to your own name and use it directly, or leave it blank and create a second named profile.
Why have more than one?
- Comparing options. One profile for "If I stay in my current job", another for "If I move to the new one". Switch between them and the whole suite re-renders with the right numbers.
- Partner or dependents. Separate profiles for separate people, if you plan for more than yourself.
- Experimentation. Try "What if I retired 5 years earlier?" on a duplicate profile without touching your main plan.
Creating, renaming and deleting
Open the Account drawer. Under Active profile you'll see:
- New (empty) - start a fresh profile with no data
- Duplicate current - copy the active profile under a new name (useful for "what-if" sandbox)
- Rename - change the active profile's name
- Delete - permanent, cannot be undone; you can't delete your only profile
The Baseline safety net
If you try to Save while Baseline is active, we open a modal asking where to save - because Baseline is the shared starting template and overwriting it accidentally is a common foot-gun. You can choose Overwrite Baseline, Save as new profile, or Save to one you already have.
The profile picker
When you're signed in, a slim strip sits under the topbar on every tool page:
- Current profile name (a dropdown - change it to switch profiles)
- A yellow dot and Save button when you have unsaved changes
- A Tool dropdown to jump to another calculator or the dashboard
- Manage opens the full Account drawer
Save, Revert and the dirty banner
Edits are kept locally in your browser as you type. Nothing is written to the profile until you explicitly Save. This means:
- You can experiment freely in a tool without committing changes
- If you don't like where you've got to, click Revert in the Account drawer to pull the last-saved profile back from the server
- If you navigate away with unsaved changes, your browser will prompt before leaving (you'll see "Leave site?" or similar)
A yellow pill in the bottom-right corner shows up when you have unsaved changes, so you can Save without opening the drawer. Click the × to dismiss it for this visit if you prefer the inline Save button in the strip.
Trial, Paid and Expired
| Tier | Access |
|---|---|
| Trial | Full access - every tool, every feature, dashboard, sync, profiles. Preview of paid for the trial window. |
| Paid | Full access, no trial expiry. Everything you had on trial, kept. |
| Expired | Read-only. You can see your dashboard and your profile data, but writes return an error asking you to reactivate. Your data is retained for a grace period after expiry so you don't lose anything. |
Trial length is shown in the Account drawer header ("Trial - 14 days left"). When it ends your tier flips to Expired automatically. Reactivating lifts the read-only lock.
Privacy and encryption
When you're signed in, your inputs are sent to our server over HTTPS, encrypted with your key, and stored. When you load a tool, the ciphertext comes back, is decrypted in your browser, and populates the form. The plaintext never leaves your device after decryption.
If you never sign in, nothing is sent to any server at all - the tools are pure in-browser calculators. See the Legal & disclaimer page for the full statement.
